Polar Bears Report.

In this report I will talk about “polar bears” presentation. Witch presented by Ibrahim Abdullah. It was in room W007 on Monday, April 18th, 2011 at 2:50 pm.

He started the presentation by introducing himself. After that he starts his topic. The topic was about “polar bears”, where do they live, their favorite food and the factors that lead to extinction. He was very good in present these topic, and the topic was very interesting. When Ibrahim was presenting, he was standing at the side of the screen. Also, he made good eye contact with the audience and he was so confident. Moreover, his voice was clear and loud and his English was good and so simple. On the other hand, the PowerPoint slide background was good also the text size. Also, there were many nice pictures of polar bears. Finally, the PowerPoint was good except the animations because he did not use it.

The presentation was good because of his personality and the way that he presented. Also, he has self-confidence which makes him relaxed and unstressed.

Electric Cars

Abdul-Aziz began the first part of the presentation, which was the definition of electric cars. It was not so good because his attitude was like he just wanted to finish his part of the presentation and it was so fast. However it was quite clear, well planned and relevant. Then Jaber started to talk about the history of electric car. It was clear and so organized; he faced a problem in reading from the task on the first slide, but he knew what to do, because he prepared for this very well. So he was able to answer any question one way or another. However the body language for Jaber was good with loud and clear exposition but Abdul-Aziz was rather quiet and he contributed little to the oral presentation. The graphics were good, colorful and the animation was very good. In general, the presentation was well planned and relevant.

Reflection on1st meeting

The meeting was going very well in the first part, when we had to discuss what we should talk about. Of course we faced a few problems; because we did it for the first time. The main problem was how we should write about the meeting; I mean what goes first, what will be the last and so on. In the end I have learned how to be an active member in the meeting.

Aggressive & Reckless Drivers

Minutes
Date: 3 / 7 / 2011
Venue: Room W007
Group Members:
Chairman: Ali Saif Albadwawi
Secretary: Omar Abdul Aziz Aljabri
participant: Mohsen Salem Shamlan

Agenda:
1.      We discuss our topic which is about aggressive & reckless drivers
2.      First thing we talk about the reasons
3.      Second we discuss the effects of this problem.
4.      Then we discuss about solutions for this problem

The chairman Ali called the meeting to order at 16:30 with group members Omar and Mohsen.
1.      Omar said one of the reasons is the personal problems that drivers face every day and it affects their mood. Mohsen said young drivers like to challenge and make the road as a racing circuit. Ali said that reckless driving is like an infection; when a driver drives recklessly and tailgates another driver, the second driver will be angry and will drive aggressively. We agreed that one of the main reasons is going late to college or work, so they drive very fast. The fourth reason is the crowded roads and the traffic which makes drivers angry.
2.      Omar said the first and main effect is an increase in car accidents and deaths. Ali said it makes drivers worry and gain anxiety. Mohsen said this problem gives a bad image about the city.
3.      Omar said the media should increase the awareness of this problem. Also in the driving school, they should make classes just to teach drivers how to respect others and the dangers of reckless driving. Ali suggested that the reckless driver must attend classes about driving safely; if they don’t attend the classes the police should suspend their license for a period of time; Omar disagree with this solution. He said it was unfair to lose your license for just one offence.
4.      At the end of this meeting, we agreed that the main reason of this problem is the family matters and personal issues which make the person to become an aggressive driver. Also, we agreed that car accidents and deaths increased as an effect of this problem. We think the main solution is to raise the awareness of the drivers by advertisements and giving classes about safe driving in the driving schools.

Present yourself

Tips for presenters

1. Don’t memorize your presentation. Make brief notes to guide you.
2. Practice many times.
3. Relax, take a deep breath, and wait until the audience is quiet.
4. Speak loudly and clearly, and use your voice for stress and emphasis.
5. Use gestures to show meaning. Make them slowly and clearly.
6. Use simple visual aids that everyone can see.
7.  Make eye contact with the audience as you speak.
8. Don’t say, “Finished.” Or “That’s all.” Smile and say “Thank you.”
9. Think about how you can do better next time.

  • 2 is most important, because it’s make the presenter more confident specially, if you doing it in the first time.
